Sunday Brunch Club - Week 26

I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying their weekend! I loved getting to watch the World Championships this past week and see so many inspiring athletes compete. It takes so much bravery to show up on a big stage like that, and there’s nothing better than seeing athletes realize their biggest dreams. It definitely fired me up for a week of training, probably my best week of training in a long time!
I did a 4x mile workout on Thursday, starting at goal race pace and getting faster. It was fun to push myself and I hit paces I haven’t hit in over a year which was a nice confidence boost. Nick and I wrapped up our week of training with our Sunday long run this morning. We ran 13 miles and found a route on a road that has some rolling hills so we can practice for New York. 6 weeks to go!
Speaking of the New York City Marathon, I’m running as a charity runner for Trackgirlz, an incredible non-profit organization that works to provide girls access to mentorship and sport through track and field empowerment programs. To help meet my fundraising goal of $4500, I’m partnering with Hettas, a shoe designed for women. For every $50 you donate, you get 1 entry to win a Race Day Package, which includes a free pair of Hettas shoes, a t-shirt, a race day fueling strategy session with me, and more fun items from brands who support women in sport. If you’re interested in donating to enter the giveaway, can do so HERE. Even if you’re not able to donate $50, I so appreciate donations of any amount!
In Today’s newsletter:
What’s for dinner? I’ve planned out your week in meals and snacks so you don’t have to! Check out my menu plan for the week, and some simple recipes to go with it.
Weekly accountability challenge: For the month of September, we’re talking about ways to sneak more micronutrients into your daily routine. This week, I’m challenging you to add a vitamin C rich food daily!
Science corner: Speaking of vitamin C, as we head into cold and flu season I wanted to address a common question I get as a dietitian. Should you be taking high dose vitamin C supplements to prevent illness? Find out more below ⬇️.
Food for thought: The World Championships women’s marathon was overall insanely inspiring. From Susanna Sullivan and Jess McLain taking the lead early on, to watching the Uruguayan athlete Julia Paternain win a bronze medal in only her second marathon ever, I wanted to share what inspired me most about these performances.
