Today Is The Only Day That Matters
Sunday Brunch Club - Week 15

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! Nick and I walked up to the top of our neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills and watched fireworks all across the city. We saw about 8 different firework shows at once, which was really fun.
For July, I’m continuing to work on ramping up my training since I’m almost exactly 4 months out from the New York City Marathon. It’s still too far out to really start my official marathon build/training block, so this phase is my “training to train” phase. I’m trying to get my body used to a little more volume and have been adding in a few faster paced runs so that when my build does officially start, it will be a smooth transition. This past week, I hit 30 miles and did my longest run in over a year at 8 miles. I also did my first mini workout, which was a 1 minute on/1 minute off fartlek for 2 miles. It was short and sweet, and it was nice to open up my stride a little bit!
If you’re also training for a fall marathon, applications for my new fall marathon group nutrition coaching program are open for another week! This 12 week group program will walk you through everything you need to know to nail your marathon fueling, and the most fun part (I think) is that we’ll be doing it with a group of other runners! I love building community and am looking forward to have a crew to do this fall marathon thing with. If you’re interested, you can learn more and apply here!

Weekly accountability challenge: For the month of July, we’re starting a new challenge theme. This month, we’re focusing on hydration. Today we’ll start with hitting your minimum daily fluid needs. Find out what that looks like below ⬇️!
Science corner: Can you hit your protein needs as a plant based athlete? Today I want to breakdown a common question I get asked so that you can make an informed decision for yourself.
Food for thought: Whenever we start back up with training, it can be really difficult not to compare to our past selves. I wanted to share my thoughts on how I’m navigating the start of a training block for the first time since I retired from professional running.
