Sunday Brunch Club - Week 64

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. As will be the case for the next few weeks, we mostly spent the weekend getting ready for the baby. We got our carseat installed, washed all of his clothes/sheets/blankets, organized some of the nursery, and finally packed our hospital bags. It’s definitely starting to feel real and so wild that he could be here any day now! I still have a lot to do to get Fueling Forward things ready for maternity leave, so my hope is that we will have a few more weeks but of course that’s not something I get to decide. The challenges of being a business owner with no maternity leave 😅.
We will also get to watch some of our friends and former teammates compete at the USATF Grand Prix meet today! We’ll head down to USC this afternoon to spectate and will hopefully get to spend some time with everyone afterwards. I love watching track in person, and after watching the NCAA championships this week I’m feeling extra fired up for more track. If you’re interested in watching the meet, tune into NBC Sports or Peacock from 4-6pm ET today!

Weekly tip: While many people know that taking a rest day is important, sometimes it’s harder to implement into your normal training schedule. We’re talking about a few things to consider with rest days and how you can use them to help your training and fitness.
Science corner: If you’ve struggled with falling asleep or staying asleep, you may have been told to reach for the melatonin or GABA supplements. Today, we’re assessing which supplements and sleep tips actually help ensure you get your zzzs.
Food for thought: As I mentioned above, the reality is sinking in for me that the baby’s arrival will be on his own timeline. Today, I wanted to share my thoughts on letting things happen on their own time and accepting the fact that sometimes we don’t get to plan or control when things happen.
