More Than A Body

Sunday Brunch Club - Week 59

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! This weekend, Nick and I went back home to Colorado for our baby shower. It was so much fun to get to see our friends and family, and it was nice to have one last trip back just the two of us before the baby gets here. It’s all starting to feel more real, and we’re in the single digit week countdown which is crazy!

I haven’t run in a couple of weeks, mostly just because it feels really jarring on my body right now and it isn’t something I’m craving so I’m choosing to listen to my body and put a pin in that for now. This will be the longest in my life that I have ever gone without running! Even when I retired from elite running, I still continued to run a few days a week pretty much right away. I miss it, but the thing I love most about running is that it will always be there and I can’t wait to get back to it in a different season of my life. For now, I’m enjoying walks and lifting at home (really loving my weight set that I got for Christmas). If you’re also in a season of life where you aren’t running as much, I hope this can help you feel less alone and to remember that running will be there when you feel ready 😊.

In Today’s newsletter:

  • What’s for dinner? I’ve planned out your week in meals and snacks so you don’t have to! Check out my menu plan for the week, and some simple recipes to go with it.

  • Weekly tip: Are you someone who accidentally goes long stretches of time without eating? I see this a lot in the athletes I work with and it can really hold you back from hitting your fueling needs. Today I’m sharing some tips to help you stay on top of fueling on even your busiest of days!

  • Science corner: GI issues are incredibly common in runners, but FODMAPs aren’t always the root cause. This week, we’re breaking down what FODMAPs are, who may benefit from adjusting them, and what to consider before eliminating foods from your diet.

  • Food for thought: Being pregnant is a unique time in life where everyone, including random strangers, feel like they can comment on your body or give you unsolicited advice. Many athletes, especially female athletes, can also relate to this, so I wanted to share my thoughts on how we talk about other people’s bodies.
